Christians Boycotting Chevron

Pledge to boycott Chevron

As people of faith, we oppose genocide, and until Chevron stops funding genocide, we pledge to boycott Chevron gas stations, and its subsidiaries (Caltex and Texaco).

Why are Christians boycotting Chevron?

10 reasons why Christians should boycott Chevron (from CFP’s September 2025 Community Call)

Israel is using American tax dollars to make Gaza uninhabitable. Nearly every hospital has been destroyed. Over 55,000 Palestinians have been killed and 2 million displaced since 2023, nearly half of whom are women and children. This is what genocide experts unanimously agree is genocide.

As Christians, we believe God calls us to act in the face of injustice. So we’re acting.

Stop bringing worthless offerings.
Your incense repulses me.
New moon, sabbath, and the calling of an assembly— I can’t stand wickedness with celebration! …

Even when you pray for a long time,
I won’t listen.
Your hands are stained with blood.

Wash! Be clean!
Remove your ugly deeds from my sight.
Put an end to such evil;
learn to do good.

Seek justice:
help the oppressed;
defend the orphan;
plead for the widow.

Isaiah 1:13–17 CEB

How is Chevron involved with Israel’s genocide in Gaza?

💰 1. Chevron is profiting directly from Israel’s genocide in Gaza

While other companies have distanced themselves from Israel, Chevron has ramped up its business: in 2020, it acquired a giant Israeli oil extraction company, which it could sell off at any time.

The more Chevron invests in doing business in Israel, the more money goes to Israel’s genocidal war machine (in 2023, that was over $820 million in taxes).

⛽️ 2. Chevron is *literally* fueling Israel’s genocide

Chevron, an American company, is THE largest producer of natural gas for Israel’s genocide.

Chevron gas fuels nearly 50% of Israel’s electricity grid, which includes illegal settlements, military bases, and prisons.

❤️‍🔥 3. Chevron holds the power to slow down Israel’s genocide

If Chevron pulls out of Israel, it would be a significant blow to Israel’s war machine, and significantly slow down Israel’s ability to keep enacting genocide.

Why boycott?

There are a handful of large corporations that are propping up Israel’s genocide in Gaza: Funding it, profiting from it, and fueling it.

Boycott is a proven tactic when fighting apartheid. In the 1980s, anti-apartheid activists’ boycotted Shell gas stations and helped end apartheid in South Africa. Christians played an outsized role in that protest. Don’t just take our word for it, this leaked letter from Shell leaders shows that they were afraid of Christian involvement in the boycotts! If we boycott Chevron, we can do the same.

"Mobilized members of religious communitys... if they join the boycott disinvestment movement it will become a radically different and far more costly problem than it now is."
